Breast surgery is not a harmless thing, on the contrary, it may lead to many complications. Among them are:
a) An allergic reaction to the anesthetic is the most common side effect which could bring on a negative reaction;
b) After operation there is a risk to get an infection which has been usually developing for 4 - 6 weeks. The most frequent infection that could be is Staphylococcus. But before doing the subsequent removal of the breast implant, some months should be passed;
c) There is also such complication as senselessness in the areola (nipple) area or breasts;
d) There may be happen a breast tissue atrophy that means thinness and shrinkage of the breast tissue because of the pressure of the breast implant;
e) A risk of excessive scarring or inner scar tissue;
f) Calcifications and galactorrhea are among post-operative complications too. If they do not pull round in their own way, it will need an implant removal. The first complication occurs in case of having a thick capsule around the implant, the other one – after beginning of the production of breast milk;
g) Extrusion of the implant may also occur when the prosthesis is not accepted by your body. In this case you need another surgery not to lead to other complications as an infection and definite scarring;
h) If after the breast surgery you go through radioactive or chemotherapy treatment, or have temperatetherapy or cryotherapy, if you smoke and have poor circulation, you may get necrosis which is a death of the breast tissue, breast envelope or incision line. But it is rare;
i) hematoma (a collection of clotted blood), seroma (a collection of the watery portion of the blood) and thrombosis (abnormal clotting) are also possible after breast surgery as well as post-operative bleeding which can cause another surgery to stop the blood.
